COVID-19 is not slowing us down. MSJ has gone VIRTUAL!

This is a crazy time around the world, and literally no one knows what things will look like in a week, let alone a month. For that reason, MSJ is going to carry on 100% safely and effectively, by going virtual. We have put together two sessions, four incredible days each, of jazz that wouldn’t be possible in the real world.

The ability to connect, to be inspired, and to move ahead like crazy in our playing and understanding is still there, perhaps like never before. Your decision to invest in yourself certainly hasn’t changed. If anything it has become more dear. We are going to help you run with that.

It’s a new world, and we are embracing not only what is possible, but what has previously been impossible. You will be doing a ton of playing online, attending engaging classes, asking questions, and connecting with other adult musicians from around the world, using the Zoom platform. Imagine working for 75 minutes each day with someone like John Patitucci or Wycliffe Gordon, and doing a private lesson with Jeff Antoniuk or one of our other core faculty members!

Maryland Summer Jazz & Jazz Wire: The Most Forward-Thinking Jazz Camp On Earth

Over the past 16 years, what we hear most at the end of camp is “I wish I knew at the beginning of MSJ what I know now. I’d be so much further ahead!” We’ve taken that sentiment to heart, and have created an amazing wholistic experience that begins well before you arrive at camp, and continues long after.

Jazz Wire is an online, global community for adult jazz students, with hundreds of members from over 25 different counties. All musicians attending MSJ are Jazz Wire members, so your experience with us is unlike that of any other camp or workshop in the world.

Once you join Jazz Wire, you’ll receive a personalized Practice Plan and Playing Evaluation, which allows you to spend the months leading up to Maryland Summer Jazz 2020 digging deeper into the song selections. You’ll be better prepared, more relaxed and confident, and you’ll have met ALL of your Maryland Summer Jazz campers in advance. You will show up on the first day of MSJ, meeting friends who you’ve known on Jazz Wire for many weeks and months! Jazz Wire is a subscription-based educational experience - your time on Jazz Wire will be the best investment you ever made in yourself and your playing.
