This is a crazy time around the world, and literally no one knows what things will look like in a week, let alone a month. For that reason, MSJ is going to carry on 100% safely and effectively, by going virtual. We have put together two sessions, four incredible days each, of jazz that wouldn’t be possible in the real world.
The ability to connect, to be inspired, and to move ahead like crazy in our playing and understanding is still there, perhaps like never before. Your decision to invest in yourself certainly hasn’t changed. If anything it has become more dear. We are going to help you run with that.

It’s a new world, and we are embracing not only what is possible, but what has previously been impossible. You will be doing a ton of playing online, attending engaging classes, asking questions, and connecting with other adult musicians from around the world, using the Zoom platform. Maryland Summer Jazz is one of the few jazz workshops in the world focusing on ADULT students. Adult Amateurs & Semi-Pros
MSJ helps serious semi-pros and adult amateurs get to the next level in their playing. If you are eager to dig in, to connect with great information, and to work with some of the finest players and teacher on the scene today, you have found your place! We are also a great “summer refresher course” for full time music teachers. Novice jazz players are also very welcome to get moving with us - you supply the passion, and we’ll get you playing better than you ever thought possible. This works because we know you and your playing from the work we will do together, in advance, at Jazz Wire.
Show Up Prepared & Leave With A Plan
When you register for MSJ, you’ll become a member of Jazz Wire, the only online community for adult jazz players (6-month initial commitment, with monthly subscription after that). There, EVERY participant at Maryland Summer Jazz will be working together before the July event, investigating and practicing the MSJ music together. Imagine showing up one day one, confident, relaxed and ready to go! And then, when MSJ is over, you’ll have a plan for your musical future.
