A Workshop Built for Adult Learners!

Welcome to JazzWire Canadian Summit (June 20-22, 2025), one of Canada's only adult jazz workshops for passionate players and students of all ages. Built for adults, our three day jazz camp features a renowned faculty of top-notch recording artists and players, who also happen to be great teachers.

JazzWire and Artistic Director Jeff Antoniuk has produced workshops and jazz camps for adult learners for over 25 years in the USA, and Jeff has brought his vision to Edmonton. Working with him and our faculty, you will have plenty of playing time in your small combo, in improvisation and instrument-specific master classes, and with various Guest Artists. Each evening, we'll host jam sessions & feature concerts for you to join.

Jeff Antoniuk, of Digging Deeper Jazz videos (check them out here), is Artistic Director and Head Educator for the Summit. He has hundreds of students in over 25 countries through JazzWire, and his free educational videos have been viewed on YouTube well over three million times. Jeff has been called “the best teacher I’ve ever had” by many students, and his warm and supportive style sets a light tone for the workshop. But don’t let that attitude fool you—we are serious about our learning too!

  • Special thanks for the inclusive curriculum for drummers.  It exceeded my expectations!
  • Thank you, Jeff. The JazzWire Summit was probably the finest jazz camp I have ever attended (that includes Aebersold, Bud Shank/Centrum, and Karl Berger's retreats). The quality of instruction our combo got each day was truly phenomenal.
  • So Grateful, and so glad I attended! I find myself a LOT more comfortable playing because I am listening more closely to the other instruments and taking inspiration from them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
  • I want to congratulate you on how well organized everything was. I did not see a single technical glitch, everybody was where they were supposed to be when they were supposed to be there, and the communication to participants was excellent
  • A tremendous weekend that I’m sure everyone came away incredibly impressed with. It was very well organized with something for all levels in attendance. Thank you very much, Jeff, for a deeply enriching and edifying experience.
  • Thanks for a wonderful Summit! I got so much out of it and it helped me realign my practice routine and understanding in many ways. It was great living jazz for a few days!
  • The overall vibe is so upbeat and supportive, but also serious about learning. It all emanates from Jeff’s teaching, and is enhanced by the other faculty members as well as the students
  • The four days were a musical wonderland for me. Something I have been dreaming about most of my adult life, coming together and exceeding my greatest expectations. I got something from every class and elective and super specialty guest. I was moved by the whole experience.
  • Hearing from the A-listers (Peter Erskine, Wycliffe Gordon, John Patitucci, and Rick Margitza) was wonderful.  Each was very humble and approaches music in their own personal way, which is a good model for all of us.

What We Do & How We Do It

The JazzWire Canadian Summit is expanded to THREE days of playing, learning, workshops, and a final jam session/concert! We have seven world-class faculty, and our learning environment is focused, intimate and effective. Most importantly, it is built from the ground up for ADULT musicians. We love kids, but we don’t work with them

  • We have only 42 spots for the summit.
  • Our playing happens in small groups of 8 or fewer musicians.
  • Artistic Director Jeff Antoniuk groups you effectively and comfortably with players of your ability level (through JazzWire).
  • On Sunday evening we will all perform at a Jam Session & Concert in a local restaurant, local TBA.

The moral of the story . . . don’t delay, these spots go fast!

This is the JazzWire Summit Experience!

JazzWire.net, our online platform is 100% integrated with The JazzWire Canadian Summit experience. JazzWire is home to over 250 adult amateur and semi-pro musicians like you, from around the world. These folks use JazzWire to learn, play, practice and progress together like never before.

ALL full-day participants who attend The Summit will become JazzWire members for six months FREE (a $300 USD value), so your experience at The JazzWire Summit will be more in-depth than you will get at ANY other workshop on earth. You will be working on the JazzWire Summit music for months before the workshop (and for months after), so everyone will be showing up with some homework already done. We’ll be ready to play!

A word from our Artist Director, Jeff Antoniuk:

The Canadian Summit & JazzWire:

The Most Forward-Thinking Jazz Workshop On Earth!

Over the past 20 years, what we hear most at the end of a workshop is “I wish I knew at the beginning of The Summit what I know now. I’d be so much further ahead!” We’ve taken that sentiment to heart, and have created an amazing wholistic experience that begins well before you arrive at the workshop, and continues long after.
JazzWire is an online, global community for adult jazz students, with hundreds of members from over 25 different counties. All musicians attending full days of the Canadian Summit are JazzWire members, so your experience with us is unlike that of any other camp or workshop in the world.

Once you join JazzWire, you’ll be able to spend the months leading up to the Canadian Summit digging deeper in to our music selections. You’ll be better prepared, more relaxed and confident, and you’ll have met ALL of your Summit workshop peers in advance. JazzWire is a subscription platform, at $50 USD/mo, and you get six months free

Workshop Location

Allard Hall, Department of Music
MacEwan University
11110-104 Ave NW
Edmonton, AB T5K 1M9, Canada

We are excited to be hosted by one of western Canada's premier music schools, MacEwan University. Allard Hall is an incredible new facility with state of the art technology and comfortable surroundings. We are very grateful to MacEwan University, the Dean of Fine Arts and Communications, and Department Chair Raymond Baril for their support of the JazzWire Canadian Summit.

Summit Auditors

Auditing is a great option for beginner players, those less confident in their skills, or players not able to attend all days of The Summit. JazzWire Summit Auditors may attend for one, two, or all three days of camp.

Auditors enjoy all of The Summit classes and electives, masterclasses and lectures. The difference is that auditors are just that - auditing but not playing in the small groups.

Workshop Accommodations

Out of town participants are able to stay at the MacEwan University Residences, just steps from Allard hall. These are modern and comfortable hotel room/residences. There is a small number available on a first-come, first-served basis. Other hotels are nearby as well.
