Our Schedule – Saxophone & Improvisation Summit

Each day, we have a fantastic variety of situations that get you playing, improving on your saxophone, and get you inspired like never before. We have years of experience balancing the schedule with breaks and learning!

Friday – June 21st

5:30 – 8:30pmOPENING CONCERT – Join us for the Summit Opening Concert at the Continental Treat Bistro. The Jeff Antoniuk Quartet will be playing (Chris Andrew – piano, Rubim DeToledo – bass, Dave Laing – drums), with member from the Summit faculty. It’ll be a rollicking good time! Saturday – June 22nd

9:30 – 10:00amWelcome Meeting and Group Warmup – Meet the faculty and get the lay of the land for the Saxophone & Improvisation Summit. From there we’ll do a little full-group warm up. (Jeff Antoniuk & faculty)
10:00 – 11:50amCombo Session – This is the core of the workshop. We’ll break down into four different rooms, where your faculty leader will coach you and the rest of the saxophones on the music we’ll be looking at throughout the Summit.  (Jeff Antoniuk, Dan Davis, Rosemarie Siever, Jean Francois Picard)
11:50 – 12:00pm10 Minute Break – Stretch your legs and rest your ears!
12:00 – 1:00pmGuest Lecturer – Today we have saxophonist and MacEwan Univeristy Dean of Fine Arts, Raymond Baril.
1:00 – 1:45pmLunch Break –  Bring a lunch, or run out and grab a bite to eat. 
1:45 – 3:00pmImprovisation Class – Open to ALL instruments. We’ll break into three different rooms and work on improvisation ideas at three different levels – novice, intermediate and more advanced. (Jeff Antoniuk, Dan Davis, Rosemarie Siever, Jean Francois Picard)
3:00 – 3:30pm30 Minute Break & Networking – We have coffee and tea being brought in, so that we have more opportunity to meet each each other, compare notes, and have more time visiting with the faculty. 
3:30 – 5:30pmCombo Session – The same group as from the morning, with more of a focus on improvisation ideas from the previous afternoon class.
